Jewish bring in Christmas with movies, Chinese food

The first day of Hanukkah happened to fall on Christmas Day this year And to celebrate, O- hev Zedek Temple hosted their Annual "Typical Jewish Christmas" event Where they served Chinese food and watched Gene Wilder movies Rabbi Oresky says that it is highly unusual for Hanukkah to fall directly on Christmas And that although these holidays are close together– they don't hold the same magnitude Hanukkah is considered to be a more culturally significant holiday– and not nearly as religious as Yom Kippur.

These are some of the things he's taught students who attend his monthly Torah Seminars for non- Jewish people Rabbi Oresky says that he hopes that cross cultural events like this can lead to a greater understanding and empathy between the two religions.
